Wind & Power
Making the transition greener
The Wind & Power project, initiated in 2019 with a donation from OpenRemote, focuses on predicting the future energy production of a windmill installed on the roof of the Strijp TQ building. The project is conducted by FHICT Delta students and involves creating a managed OpenRemote environment to collect and analyze data from the windmill. The primary objectives include ensuring the windmill's operational status, integrating data management systems, and implementing safety processes. The project also emphasizes the use of IoT devices, data integrity monitoring, and effective communication through comprehensive documentation and stakeholder management.
Dive deeper
The Wind & Power project setup consists of the following parts.
- Windmill: Tesup 2400 model installed on the Strijp TQ building.
- Charge Controller: Tesup Wind Turbine Charge Controller converts AC power from the windmill to DC for battery storage.
- Batteries: CPC12-12 Cellpower cyclic batteries (12V / 12Ah).
- Inverter: Victron Phoenix Inverter Smart 230V (48V | 2000VA) converts DC to AC for grid compatibility.
- Data Management: Raspberry Pi and OpenRemote for data collection and monitoring.
- Safety: Procedures include regular inspections and safety checks to manage risks associated with high wind speeds and technical issues.
